How to remove flash rust from shiny metal.

A/C went down in my shop night before last and by the time I got it up running again my chucks some ways vices and such are covered in rust. How is the best way to clean this mess back up. I would like them shiny again but may be out of luck. Thanks in advance for any solutions.

If it really is flash rust an oily rag should clean it up. If something a little more aggressive reqd try "Never Dull". Sold in two package styles.

If it is light flash rust an oily rag should restore things. Something I use occasionally to remove light rust is "Never Dull" wadding. Very mild. Come packaged in original can, and in the stores marketed by Eagle One. All the same thing.

This stuff is amazing if you don't need a full evaporust dunk. Spray and watch flash rust disappear. Don't let it dry on precision surfaces or you'll get a very light phosphate coating. Spray, follow up with a cloth wipe, then wipe with oil or
M1 or similar.

Scotch-Brite and WD40 do a pretty decent job.
