Howa 1000 Lathes? Any good?

I am in the market for a larger lathe, for in my garage, and I came across a Howa 1000 at a used machinery dealer, that looks like it would meet my needs. Just wondering if these machines are any good? This thing is built like a tank and is very heavy.

I used a Howa Sanyo (~16x40?) at a previous employer. It was a great machine, although through spindle clearance seemed on the small side.

Well the spindle has a 2" thru bore, which is just ideal for my needs. I have heard good things about Japanese made machines and I am hoping this is one of them. I still need to see it running under power, which I hope will be later this week.

No. Decided that I didn't need to have one at home. I have a full machine shop at work that I can use when I need.
