When I use wrench to try to unscrew both end caps, they keep spinning but do not come off.
I think I need to compress that ring that is protruding in the small hole below next to the cap.
But cannot remember the name of the tool for it, tried searching on google but could not find it.
Can someone please help me or give any ideas about how to dismantle this cylinder without damaging it.

you don't compress it,you get one end with a pick or something to come out of the hole,,once it is started just unscrew and wire will advance out

I've seen them called slip rings too but in any case they just slide out--most of the time. Once in a while one
will fight you but generally they're not a problem. No threads involved...
