I've clamped a ground parallel to the broach and touched off with a square.

Ditto on Ray's method. Have done this many times with 100% success

I had a run of parts that needed two square broached holes in a line on a hundred parts. One thing I did was make a slotted shoe for the arbor press ram. I also made a jig to hold the parts square to the slot. Both parts were made of aluminum scrap from my bin and didn't take very long to make. I also like Ray's method for a few parts.

i tried the square to the broach but hadn't thought about clamping a parallel. thanks
