Imperial Bridgeport Knee

Hi,

I'm after some ideas/advice for my new to me Bridgeport series one J head.

I have a 2 axis DRO for my x and y axis but I am missing my Z. I usually work in metric and would like some options to either put a DRO on my Z axis or change the dials to metric from imperial?! I know the lead screw on the knee is an imperial thread so if changing the dial would have to change the thread also. Another option would be to get a new 3 axis DRO which would be costly. The DRO I currently have is a KL counter Mitutoyo so is good quality so would be a shame to scrap it. Another option is the quill cheap sliding bolt on types?

What is the most cost effective and probably the easiest to do in your opinion?

Thanks in advance
Dave

I have used one of those mitutoyu LCD quill scales for years. For the amount of times I care on a manual mill it is fine. And hell,it is 25 years old I think so pretty reliable.
