Info on Pacemaker lathe

Looking at a pacemaker lathe.

Would anyone have any info on this serial number.
SN 62242-41

I believe it's a 20" raised for swing (around 26"), 120" between centers.

What would be an average going cost for a ugly but mechanically sound pacemaker?

Someone bust off the clutch handle at the headstock, which screams neglect to me, yet the hand crank for moving the tail stock is there.

I agree with Phil, not worth a lot.

That's a good size though. 20x120 is an all around good size machine.

No removable outer hardened and ground vee ways until about 1947. I would suppose that the smaller, shorter machines were the first to get such things.

Note the 20 will be the "BIG" series of Pacemakers and your long prospect probably is well over 11,000 Lbs

Scraping the wear out of that machine seems like a horrible idea then.
Its not fitting on a grinder for sure.

My 14 by 54 is a 41 with removable hard ways, SN 62574-41. Is there a good way to make sure that a regrinding would still remain true? I talked to one fellow that had a German lathe with removables, he said he was simply going to reverse them.

That is a new one to me. How are chances of a photo showing that from the tail stock end?

I'm thinking its going to come in around 16,000lbs.
Has the rapid traverse on the carriage.

From what I can tell it spent its life doing some deep hole drilling, with it mounted on the tool post. Maybe that helped spread the wear out.
I don't mind doing a rebuild. I just need a good solid base to start with.

Sure could have fooled me. I do imagine the factory had a hand it that - after the big effort called WW2

Bulletin 16 from 1943 - page 28 - makes no mention
