ISO VG2 spindle in small Quantity - less than 5 gallons?

B&S #2 surface grinder with EX-CELL-O spindle. Tag says use Gargoyle E oil. Modern version is MOBIL Velocite 3 oil which is a ISO VG2 oil. I have run out. I can't find anyone selling it in less than 5 gallons and as often as the grinder is used that is enough for 50 years. Anyone know of an equivalent oil that is one gallon?

I have lots of Velocite 6 oil, would it be OK? Grinder is only run for short periods.

ISO VG2 reads spindle & air tool oil......

I would look at mineral oils or air tool oil....

I don't know anything about that spindle, but I do know about the oil and spindles that use it. The stuff is water-like and if you try to use a heavier grade, your spindle will likely overheat and even fail. This is a WAG, but look into motorcycle fork oils. Some of those have similar viscosity.

That’s about ISO VG3 vs. VG2, but it’s a lot closer than VG 6.
