Default Keeping track of carve smart step jaws on orange vises?

I want to make some carvesmart stepped jaws for my 2 dual station orange vises. I generally have been installing other jaws on the carriers they were machined on for best repeatibility but It would be great to make some step jaws that will maintain the same Z height no matter what carrier they are installed on so I don't need to keep track and can install them anywhere. Does anyone else do this? I guess I will eventually indicate all this and find out but just curious what others were doing. I was using Some regular jaws previously so the Z repeated on the bed so it didn't matter what vise or carrier they were installed on but with the carvesmart jaws I'm wondering what the variation on Z would be.

The only time we had issues with this is when we were spanning vises, and honestly it was usually no different than using parallels. I would rubber band the sets together in storage and then just use a depth mic to figure out if two sets were way off from each other when going across vises.
