I'm in a bit of a pinch for a really big compression spring.
2" wire,
58.5" long,
close and ground ends,
14"OD
10"ID
4.5" lead
2 9/16" space between coils.
14 coils total.

Most lead times I'm seeing are 6-10 weeks, but I need it more in 1-2 weeks.
I think most spring houses are stuck on the material. Rough guess is the stock needs to be about 55' long in a single piece.

Are there any spring houses in Western North America who might have material this size in stock?

Thanks!

Know anyone with a decent sized VMC and a rotary table? Mill one from a 14" x 10" tube. Solid ends, square wire section, probably get faster turnaround than a one-off winding.

Now, as to life and load capacity, well, you'd need a good steel, cut, heat treated, shot peened all over, etc. But it could be done.

Might try the three main spring houses in Houston, Texas. They are thirsty for work!!! Engineered Spring Products, Spring Engineers, Katy Spring. Material maybe the problem. I know they do some large springs and may have material on hand. Worth a try if you haven't already sourced them. Ken

Could you stack up some railcar truck springs. they may b similar size.

Actually the rail car suspension springs use smaller diameter wire and the OD is much smaller. An elevator company I worked for used salvaged truck springs as buffer springs.
