This link takes you to a YouTube video channel featuring more advanced horizontal boring mill work. It's un-narrated and the few titles are in Spanish but that's no hindrence to its educational content. The videography is clear and the activity easy to follow. It does presume the viewer has basic knowledge of machine shop practice and equipment. For example, when he drills a hole pattern without layout you have to visualize he's working to rectangular coordinates or the hole circle feature on his DRO.

I find the series interesting because Mr Menendez is competantly performing real world production manual machining on medium scale manufactured parts. About a quarter of my career was taken up with very similar work on very similar machine tools using much the same technique and tooling. This guy is the real deal: I've worked with dozens like him.

Thanks Forrest & color me impressed! I count 3 setups & clamps in this video done with out travel indicating the part for setup. There’d be a battle getting to the finish line first against this guy. ;)

Man + machine + trust = impressive! Gonna watch some more.

Thanks again,
Matt

Don't think it'll fit in my basement.
Even if I had the headroom I couldn't get it past the
stair landing 90 degree turn.

I remember doing a repair on a 5" spindle machine were the operator was removing a milling head similar to that one. He had the head slung on a 1/2 ton jib crane mounted on the column.
He was intending to rapid the spindle back out of the milling head but he had the traverse switch set to the vertical traverse. Unfortunately when he pressed the rapid button the spindle frame went down !
It pulled the hoist block down off the jib beam. He was badly shaken when it all came crashing down but luckily he was unhurt.

Regards Tyrone.

He who has made the most chips before he dies, WINS.

He who makes the most chips before he dies, dies all worn out. He who has the most fun making chips while he is alive wins.

I like the Crescent wrench in the video with a built in hammer.
