Hi everyone
I am new to machinist tools. I know how to cut, weld and do some basic work.
I would like to know what kind of lathe or machine that would be best for small work. My brother has asked me to take on the task of making parts for his company in my home shop. I will basically be making coin magic tricks. I will need to hollow out nickels, dimes and pennies in quantity at a time. By hollow i mean make a coin into a cup. Maybe 100 at a time. Can anyone recommend the machinery that would be best for this? I would like to spend less than 5000. if possible for used or new. Any recommendation or direction would be appreciated. I look forward to getting my hands dirty, and keeping our business in state.
Thanks!

You might want to check the legality of altering US coins. I believe Ellis got in trouble demonstrating that their saws could cut a penny in half. They switched to cutting washers.
