I sent my Ready Tool live center back to the company. They did a great job. Even date stamped it.

Agree with sending back to Manufacturer..I used to be the grinder hand for machine centers at a big shop using many sized of centers needing zero detectable error with a tenth indicator.. They had to be point ground after assembly. Our tool room could assemble them but not grind them. Any attempt to grind the points out of the assembly failed as did any attempt to chuck off the taper or mounting shaft... as almost any and every work head has a little error. Mostly did them on the Brown and Sharpe 13 grinder. For solid centers I made a set of bearings almost like a two bearing steady to hold a center on its own taper and some times off the center at one end if that ran true or could be corrected.

Lives have to have some end pressure to make good the grind.

.0002 error in a live center will make .0004 in that part ... add a tad machine error and the part will be a half thousandth off.

I think my Riten centers even have their phone number on them so you can ask them for a quote and shipping address. I don't think I would send my Skoda or Kabuto centers back to Czech Republic or Japan.
