Looking for a coolant filter - anyone ever used Eclipse Micromag?

I use 1 or 5 micron 7"x32" bag filters from McMaster-Carr, sewn seam trade size 2. They cost $7.90 and last for 3 months. The heads are around $20. I will never go back to unfiltered coolant. No chips in my tank or anti-backflow valves.

Looks expensive. A similar magnetic filter from McMaster is <400 USD. Canadian dollers aren't that cheap.

I am cutting mostly aluminum but was having problems with both large chips and fine suspended aluminum dust in my coolant. I went to Water Depot and bought the largest filter they had and a 20 micron filter. It's only been a couple of months but so far its been good. Only around $175 for filter and cartridge.

Eriez magnetics has gotten into coolant filtration as of late.
They bought out another company, they make portable units as well.

Use a automotive coolant filter. It’s super cheap and you can order a “remote mount oil filter” kit to mount the filter mount anywhere you want. You can’t use a oil filter, it has to be a coolant filter.
