Hello, so I'm drilling and tapping about a dozen M4 holes in cast iron. I forgot my taps at home and swung by the hardware store and grabbed what I thought was a few M4x0.7 taps. Well the first one was a M4 0.7 tap but behind it was 2 M4 x0.75 taps. I started tapping and tested the first one and it wouldnt thread a M4 0.75 Socket screw. Why the hell does anyone make these? After looking online it looks like there are a ton of these available but no M4x 0.75 screws. Does anyone know how to fix this without re drilling out to a M5?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The thread you seek is the old JIS /Japan Industry Standard, used on Hondas in particular pre about 1967....Ive also struck it on machine tools. I suggest it might still be commonly available in Japan.
