Does anybody have any tips and experience machining Hiperco 50A? I’ve never heard of the stuff until the print was dropped off on my bench. I’m mainly going to be turning it but I do have to put a small offset hole in the face. Any tips such as speeds-feeds, DOC, etc will be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Carpenter website, see if they have any data. At half cobalt, I'd guess on the lower SFM side with good carbide. You may want to check out cobalt toxicity to decide whether your dust and swarf situation will be a concern, ditto HAZMAT issues.

Carpenter's web site said the material is available in strip form only. Check on the available thickness to see if the turned part is even possible.

Other sources show bar and rod up to 5".

Rc20 annealed. Doesn't look all that horrible to machine. 70-90 SFM carbide .007-.020 IPR. 25-35 SFM with HSS, .003-.010 IPM. 30 SFM drill.

Recommended speeds from here:
