Hi all,

I am currently looking at a Sharp VH3 and a Supermax seies II or YC-2Gs.

Which is better and why?

What are their good and bad points?

Support for Sharp isn't too bad. As far as I know Supermax has none. The first part you need might scrap the machine.

a lot of that has to do with what parts being made with what tooling.
.
obviously some might try to get by with 1/2 or smaller end mills and others might be trying to do a lot with 6"dia facemills. and tool length and tool holder lengths can influence things, tooling time and expense costs, etc

Just to be clear, I have this SuperMax machine:

I think its the model you are looking at. Mine has been wonderful to use. VERY RIGID for a manual knee mill. Love the power feed in all axis. parts are still available, but slow ship times. I can look up vendor if you buy it.

My son has one in his work also. We have both seen it just EATS variable speed belts. Keep one on the shelf if you buy. I upgraded to a VFD for spindle speed control. Have not had to replace a belt since the upgrade.

There's a shear pin on the power feed. I had trouble replacing it the first time. Kind of tricky.
