Given modern electronics such as bluetooth, and computer designed optics the cost of laser interferometers should be coming down to the level it could make sense for a small workshop to own the equipment needed to check, setup or otherwise measure machine alignment. Does anyone know of a company producing such equipment for a price that isn't impractical for occasional use? (say under a few thousand)
