No clue what happened here (and it looks like either nobody else does either, or at least aren't telling), but I was on the receiving end of something awfully similar on another forum years ago. I promptly made a new account and went asking around. Turned out I had reported a spam post. Might have done it by clicking my post and writing in a message about the one above mine, or maybe the mod just messed up.
Regardless they banned me by accident in addition to banning the spammer. Turned out there were two types of bans. On (which could be temporary or permanent) that was more like a suspension. It says banned under your name, you can't post, etc. Easy to turn on, easy to turn off.
The other type of ban was reserved for spammers. It not only banned you, it flat out deleted your account and posting history. Basically the easiest way to remove all the posts a spammer made. It even got the articles I had written. Unfortunately while it was easy to turn on, it didn't have a handy reverse button. One volunteer mod proved that they could dig up individual posts from the archives, but they didn't see fit to put in the effort to fully revive my account. Fortunately they were a small player in that topic, so I went and found a better one to hang out in, and the place more or less ended up drying up over the next couple years for a variety of reasons.

I would prefer "Cabron" or perhaps "Pinche Gringo".

Man, I wish I could remember his username, or something from that thread so I could find it. I think he was Charlie something or other.

OOOH! I like free energy stories, I heard one that is entirely believable and possible. It involved kitchen stoves out in citrus orchard and the gas going off during a deep freeze. Two sources of free energy in one place!

Maybe I am not the only one who heard the story.

I was around then but have no recollection of that thread. Charlie certainly was persistent coming back after almost every negative post. I can see where his idea is flawed. Needed to make it out of silver for better thermal and electrical conductivity! Oh well he did not ask me.

For free energy you need to be the wife of the owner of the King ranch. Think a gazillion acres in south Texas. You have the phone number of the oil company that has drilled wells on you place and have tapped into the gas line with the oil peoples permission. Her citrus orchard was protected from freezing with a whole bunch of kitchen stoves throughout the orchard. The gas goes off in the middle of the night and she calls the oil company exec to fix the pipeline and save her trees. Oil exec installs a large propane tank, converts her stoves to propane and keeps the tank full at no charge to Mrs. King. FREE ENERGY!

Anyway that is how I remember the story. Been 30 years and details may be off, but it is a believable story.

It would be shame to have that screw machine information he contributed lost. I see some old post I contributed to drug up from time to time, sometimes it really surprises me how smart I was back then. Probably the same with Camscan, you forget all the things you posted.

Before you say anything Doug, sometimes it surprises me how stupid I was back then. Then it is too late to edit. Also amazing how bad my spelling was.

Well, Milacron has someone working on restoration so that won't be affected either way.

But for the present time, a new sign on should help get him back on, and by simply adding the "Jr" to the name , we will all know who it is.

Well, I didn't read them all. I just clicked on topics that sounded like I could learn something from them. If I had to guess, I read closer to 65-70% of the general archives. I started to get to know peoples' personalities around here even before I read a single current post from them. I knew gmatov, I knew John Welden. I knew Solar, I knew BobW was the Fadal king.

I signed up in February of 14... So I'd guesstimate I started reading sometime around October of 13... I would have been about 20 months into my 4 year apprenticeship by then.

    Better to wait.

Restoral from backup media is simple. Then an SQL query extracts the records to be merged back in, current DB state.

The HARDER part is how the bugger manages indices and OID's and whether the IT staff even have spare servers to work with to pre-vet the work and insure they do more good than harm.

Once had to advise a client to FIRE one accident-prone tech. Good hearted. Dedicated enough, but WTF?

He not once but TWICE 'mirrored' a new and virgin-blank HDD as source for a RAID 1 restore rather than destination.

300-plus HKG Gov issued CD's had to be reloaded. One at a time.

PM dasn't need a situation where camscan has been restored.. and all OTHER member's posts have vanished!

wow, disturbing. Thing is, Charlie is most people, he's just a bit more enthusiastic. The scientifically illiterate....and they vote

I knew a character, had a machine shop in Brampton. lost is business, wealth and wife, sucked into a vortex of hope and ignorance. Had a big fancy spinning prototype, that just needed a bit more tweaking. His enthusiasm drew in the feeble minded and he even had two EE's working for him.... until the auction. Sad.
