Yes, the newer ones have a hopper that gets loaded with saw cut lengths of material. I believe that Sunstrand made them as well, but I suspect they too are long gone.
Pretty close. The vise brackets on ours is shimmed so looks like someone spent some time getting the centers centered.
Yes, it just uses standard center drills and turning inserts.
We've been in contact with a Hey specialist and there's a few options to keep our Hey going but in the long run, it's not cost effective since specific parts aren't available anymore.

For reference, I found a company (just "down the road" too, lol) that makes modern CNC center facing machines. They're called CellCon, a division of Mittler Brothers.

CellCon's are pretty neat. But when I saw that Mittler took them over, I don't know if they are up to the task of making them.
