Good Day All-

I am to set up a test cut on Material B which is presumed to cut much like material A. Material A is only over supplied in a particular shape and we only ever cut it while its spinning in the Caxis of our grinding machine. I use grinding and milling interchangeably here because for the sake of conversation- the machine is basically a 5 axis mill that utilizes grinding tools.

So- grinding material A- has a large diameter of around 157.48mm. we spin this material at around 100Rpm while feeding down the profile of the part. With a circumference of 494.7 and an rpm of 100- I seem to be traveling at about 49470mm/min

Material B has been supplied in 3x4" flat coupons. I would like to setup test cuts that mimic the speeds at which I cut material A....but my Mill doesn't feed that fast.

To get the same MRR on a milling machine- this seems and improbable task.

How can I design a proper test under these conditions?

keep the feed rate and rpm the same on both and monitor another parameter, like heat, infrared sensor.
