It looks like a push collet, like on W&S hand turret lathes.

Bardons and Oliver turret lathes used collets with that shape. There were several different size machines.

Probably other turret lathe makers used similar collets.

The easiest solution would be to dump the Ramco with the odd spindle and get a Hardinge DSM-59.

-You'd have to change the whole closer assembly. Those collets push out to close, 5C pulls in to close.
