need a special four jaw chuck? make your own

And to top it off he made it with a fake arm/hand as well ;) (about 1/3rd way into the vid)

He did a good job! So what was that apparatus that put the hex in the end of those bolts? Don't remember ever seeing one of those before?

Rotary broaching tool, something not too hard to shop-make. But available commercially too.

Yeah, I was WTF'ing about the hand too, not sure if that was legit his prosthetic, or just a joke.

He was on the forum before, his prosthetics are legit, be blew up his hands. With the limited resources and tools he does some fantastic stuff.

Check out his youtube channel, there is more the same. It would be hard to think of him as a pro, but sure as hell a very talented dude.

Wait! Something I do not understand.

At 3:24 he shows an M14 tap in a tap wrench with the arm of the tap wrench resting on the front way. The tap is neck deep in the hole he has previously drilled. That hole is in his stock which is firmly clamped down to the cross slide of the lathe. Later shots do show that the hole is threaded all the way to the OD. The head stock quill is holding a center that was apparently only used to center the tap, not to turn it. So, just WHAT did he turn to cut that thread and how did he turn it. FM (flaming magic)?

Certainly a very nice work (including making own cutters and other tools) that requires a lot of skill - especially with the relatively small and simple machine tools he is using. The chuck looks precise and nicely finished. One can buy a very decent small chuck like this for about as much or less than the cost of the materials, but is sure fun to make it.
