So, here is my first question here. Hope it's not to dumb, lol .
My son has an old Covel style 15 surface grinder we're using to make our Damascus steel knives.
It's 3 phase, so wondering about the rotation of the grinding wheel, which the locking nut is left hand thread. Want to make sure we get it spinning the right way, so it doesn't back it's self off.
Thanks for any help on this.
Bob J.

Thanks so much. Wanted to make sure we got the 3 phase hooked up correctly. Looking forward to getting it going, will save a lot of work.
It was a heavy beast to move, but will be worth it.

Bob, welcome to the forum. A bit of warning for the future - the rules of this forum insist on thread titles that give a good description of what the topic is. Typically a thread with a vague or non-specific title - like, say, "New Guy" - will get locked, sometimes with, sometimes without explanation. Fortunately, you've gotten a good answer from Gordon before that has happened. :)

To expand on that a bit, the reason for pertinent thread titles is to make them searchable. For example, if someone searched for information about welds cracking, a search for "welds" or "cracking" might turn up all the threads with one of those words in the titles but would not find one saying joint problems or whatever. The title should be descriptive.

Even with the rules posted in the stickies, we get a lot of threads with titles like "bad day".

Bill
