O/T? - Quality diamond needle files?

I got this quality set years ago and am finally wearing them out, can't for the life of me remember what brand they are. Think they're around 240 grit.

Looking for a replacement and all I'm seeing is cheap "quality import" crap.

Any suggestions for a good quality brand?

Simonds or Nicholson would probably be your best bet, but they won't be cheap...

I like those also.^^^

I also have bought diamond needle files also they come in real handy for picky work.

another vote for Grobet, that's all I've bought for the last 15 years. before that it was Nicholson but Grobet needle files I have found to be of higher quality.

If you'll mostly be working with softer materials (steels to RC40, Al, etc.), then you're better off with plain old hard steel files. They'll cut better and likely longer than the granular diamond coated files.

If you really want to file glass and carbide, then sure, get the diamond versions.

Thanks guys. I do a lot of 17-4 stainless, stellite etc and diamond definitely cuts better and lasts longer.

I went with that Grobet set, street price is around $125.
