That's a really interesting choice - build a website yourself or hire the team of developers. I am a tech writer and in this article I had described six different approaches to building a website How Much Does It Cost to Build a Marketplace in 2020?. The main topic here is the marketplaces, but I think it will work for many other websites too.

Good way to start a website?''
1 Ask about it on PM
2 Sort the wheat from the chaff.
3 Fight off the spammers and KIA's
4 Ignore the shit stirrers, naysayers, piss takers and general assholes
5 Pour another drink and abandon the idea.

First of all, choose the topic of your website. Then find a good website designer that has developed any kind of similar website. Look through his previous works, and if you like them, you can hire him. After your website is created, you have to promote it and to put it on the first Google engine pages. Find some SEO specialists that can help you with improving the traffic flow on your website, its rankings, and the number of visitors you have per day. There are a lot of companies like Crowd Marketing: #1 Forum Link-Building Strategy that can help you perform such tasks. Just contact them, and they'll do the rest.

If you want to learn how to really build sites through coding, this is an option for you.
15 years ago, I built my own website using nothing but Adobe dreamweaver and the website for dummies book. The dummies book is a great reference because as you go through it, it says, if you dont want to build a such and such, skip to this chapter.
I like the few dummies books I have because I can skim through the book and find out what I really need to pay attention to, then go back and only read the parts I need at that time.
It also helps that you can load up any website and copy their source code and copy and paste into dreamweaver. Then you can edit it and see what that does.
