Ego-driven space pollution, pure and simple. It is not even needed.
    Terrestrial Fibre is cheap.
    Terrestrial laser shots are cheap
    Terrestrial Metro-WiFi as well
    Cellular is already being wasted.

90% plus of traffic on our resent B/W is a dead-loss in human terms.

Waste on the order of running sewage through the streets and expecting folk to drink around the turds.

Doing more harm than good, as if it were free drugs, but charged-for.

Too tired to tell you what I REALLY think, so "do your own due diligence".

    Hold it, cowboy!

The network proposed by spaceX would provide slightly lower latency than current technology. So you say what I got 400 Mbits plenty good for my HD porn. But that is not the point here, it is hitting trigger events first like a sell of in hong kong if I can be 300 microseconds ahead of the next guy I could make a fortune. And that is what Elon is promising.

Internet options are still quite limited in rural America. Many folks I know still run dial up over copper phone lines.

I am on a point to point wireless service through a WISP. That or satellite are the only high speed options where I live. Both are very weather dependent. Max speed we can get here is around 26Mbps down. Around 4 up. We throttle ours at 10 down.

My internet slows down by design. If I have several hours of non-use or swap the cable to another computer the speed goes down.
A reset on my internet box brings the speed right back up. I called the provider and some girl is saying that some components in my box are wearing out.
I told her I have a background in electronics and computers and that answer was no good.

They have some back off method to slow you down as time goes on and other people load up the network.

Not really noticed it here, mine is 474 mb/s down and 481 mb/s up. This is via test at my router. Your computer can have a lot to do with your speed also.

I am feeling this so badly right now. I can't even find someone to get dial-up from. They all tell me that ATT should be my provider for my area. ATT says sorry, but here's some ungodly expensive and limited satellite from our partners. I can't even get over air broadband because of tower locations, much less cellular. Thing is, you look up ATT's service map, their fiber service stops on the opposite side of the road from where my house is. Damn bastards.

My cousin has it worse. ATT has fiber and a junction box ON HIS PROPERTY and they won't hook him up. I keep telling him he needs to have an accident or 2 with a tractor and maybe that'll get them to splice in a line for him while they are at it.
