OT the making of a Miraphone tuba.

When I was in marching band, they always told us if we broke our horn, take it to a repair shop and DON'T let our dad's fix it. Well my daughter dropped my trumpet a little while ago and broke a couple of solder joints, and I was good, It's in a professional shop right now getting fixed. But now that I've seen how they make these things..... *pft* I could have saved $80 and fixed it myself!:rolleyes5::D

It's cool how much hands on skill goes into brass instruments. Not a lot of die work and other than some of those valve parts, no automation.

Nice video, and really interesting to see just how much hand-work goes into instrument making. Buddy of mine has a wife who's a flute maker, much the same story I think.

I've fixed plenty of solder joints on my old tuba. Not as much of a looker as that Miraphone though, even before my hillbilly ass messed with it :D. Still has a nice timbre though.
