It has been a couple years since I have posted. Life you know. Well it is time to build the toy/tool barn.

This is my humble shop site
Scott's Shop

So the barn is 50x60. The rear metal shop is about 25x30. Above that metal shop will be the wood shop. The rest of the space will go floor to rafters, all open (for automotive work etc). Rear right corner behind beam is welding and fab. Upper woodshed will have stair and a garage door for access to use forklift to lift larger projects and tools up there. We will have 3phase and 110/220.
Here goes...

Uhh oh new big shop disease
Shop isn't even done yet
Cl buy, new to me 10,000lbs 24.5 swing x72" monarch. Old ship dc machine converted to ac. Was an old tracer machine. Only downside of that is the straight compound and no taper. But with 5 chucks, follow, steady(s) tooled cxa, maybe 300 lbs of other odds and ends and maybe .001 of dip or less over the 6 feet using a dial indicator, I can live with that. better pics to follow soon once moved in. Also got a monster arbor press and 500lbsof broaching tooling(anyone need a key way?) also a big welding table with 2 vises etc, a big knee mill running on proto trak ace3(hello cnc.)

Funny, I had the same problem with my garage door install. Wanted to congratulate you on a very nice building when this post went up previously- glad it's back! Only thing I'd suggest you think about before moving in machines is lifting gear. Even a few I beams up high makes life easier. Is the Swedish mill going into this shop?

Lucky7

The projects section of your website doesn't really show anything. I guess you just want to show off all the tools you've got and your fancy new building. Typical of guys that can't actually make anything. :rolleyes5:

glad it wasn't just me lucky7!
my builder has the habit of not writing things down then having to re-address issues. thankfully he is easy to work with and accepts blame when he forgets. the latest issue was my fault I guess. Soon paint and move, about 2 wks or so

I dunno. Even if the OP never built anything (which I doubt), I'd take a shop-building-and-tool-acquiring hobby over a troll-posting hobby most any day. Could always share a beer in a guy's shop, but the postings sometimes just leave most of us with a bad taste.

beautiful!!!!
very jealous of this entire compound, everything seems well thought out and aesthetically pleasing to boot.
this is my wife's and my dream situation, good on ya for making it happen and best of luck going forward.

and ignore the miserable troll, the rest of us are happy for you.

Good build most will be jealous including myself location looks fantastic as well.Wouldnt mind getting up in the morning and walking in to that, you have it I can dream.Happy machining.

That's a great design. You'll love the shed roof for blacksmithing/welding under too, keeps fumes from building up inside. Also a good place to keep your gas tanks as an extra safety precaution. Assuming you have gas tanks, which seems like a safe bet.

Thx all
For the overhang, I have 2 perpetual motion projects (they perpetually need help moving) otherwise known as bulldozers. A big log arch from logrite and maybe some long scrap storage. That gives me a 10x20 or so area for forge, anvil and a power hammer if I ever find one. Interior paint is well under way and gutters are on. I will get a better pic of the porch area tomorrow. It came out nicer than I was expecting.

Oh damn - I resemble that remark. I'm devastated by your insight.
