Outfitting Mill with Spindle

Hey Everyone,

I am just diving into the machining world. Got lucky enough with someone providing most of a clausing 8520 to me (missing head housing, quill, spind, spindle pulley etc... but does have motor). I also have the luck of having a Bridgeport m head head housing. In looking for spindles/quills for Bridgeport m head, or just head for causing 8520 I've been having trouble finding something affordable. Question for you all, what is the best source to search for either Bridgeport spindle/quill's, or for clausing head? Do you have other thoughts about alternative spindles I can use for this machine (I'm willing to sacrifice some quality for price). Basically, how would you approach this project?

They'd probably accept less than $1,000. Or even just sell you the complete head.

Try ebay for a complete Bridgeport head.

I have an 8520 I'm very happy with, the MT2 spindle is the same as the tailstock on my lathe so drill chucks etc. are interchangeable. If I was in your shoes tho I think I'd look for a Bridgeport head with R8, endless cheap tooling there...
