Hello everyone,
I am trying to prototype a machine that will use a pnuematic cylinder and a little unsure on how to build the control portion. I want to use a 24 volt dc proximity switch to activate the cylinder, let it full stroke, then automaticaly retract
back to the home position and wait for the switch to be activated again on the next cycle. does anyone know how I can wire up something like this and what type of valves I would need. I am sure this can be done fairly easily using a PLC to control it however I would like to keep it simple in the beginning just to try an prove my overall concept.

Thank You
Ralph

Hi,
You would use a latching relay, or maybe a timer relay. With a latching relay, your sensor would activate it, then when you reach full stroke another sensor would break the circuit, a reed switch on the cylinder would work for that.
Alternatively just actuating the cylinder for a certain time might be good enough?
