    Maybe for now.

Wait for the overhead drones on patrol telling you to get off the street.

For me, might move briefly to LA and collect those snitch bounties that the mayor is offering.

Whooo boy, I could only wish to be that important. Hang on a sec, I'll polish up that tin hat for you .... I honestly hate to admit this but the eye of the state has a lot more important things to do than watch me.

Besides which, no one has ever shut me up anyway. Even myself.

You guys are self-deluded. Come to China, walk around, it's not what you believe. Doesn't even resemble what you believe.
When things settle down , one day I would definitely like to go to Beijing and Shanghai.

Also would like to spend time in Taiwan, seems there's some good things going on there that are relevant for my/ our little ship (of course) , the people seem really cool.

    - Vietnam seems more like the open and friendly early days of China , like the beginning of the Golden Age / Wild West days.

I have two kids , my older son I made with tools lying around the house (22 ish years ago) but I also adopted an infant girl from Vietnam (one of the last international adoptions the US INS would permit at the time.). She's a relatively chill / spoilt teenager / young woman now... [NOT allowed to visit her BF right now in Seattle lol. (she thinks we are plotting to ruin her life of course.). ].

When I was out there in Vietnam there were still a lot of orphanages that had children that had major birth defects and deformities from agent Orange. Still. I also had a inlaw / relative that died of multiple cancers from agent orange (us service man that was "In county"). - A real ripple effect from his passing.

I have to admit I don't like mentioning the "T" word, but I found it pretty disgusting that Trump attempted to put together a deportation order for families that were lifted / rescued in the early 1970's (southern Vietnamese, before the one's left behind were completely slaughtered). They have been living in the USA for nearly half a century... And the "Agent Orange in Chief" wants to send them back ?

The one thing that's always got my "Puzzler" going is whether PRC CCP etc. will make a move on Tawian… ("Friendly" invasion/ more complete unification.). Strangely on the PRC's number 1 "to do" list constitutionally. That was the case with West Germany (number 1 on the to do list to reunify with the East. ) on the other hand I think PRC has a vested interest to maintain that delicate balance as it is (but has to save face). IF things economically go really pear-shaped will PRC start making "Moves" that pertain to Chinese sovereignty. PRC always plays the long game, but wonder what would precipitate more decisive action ?

Is there anything that idiot won't fuck up ? At the time I wasn't overjoyed with the influx of Vietnamese - remember all the friction over fishing ? - but c'mon, it's been fifty years

Nope. No need. Somewhere there's a chart showing the number of visas to and from China. Top of the list, Taiwan. Hundreds of thousands of trips. Taiwan companies all over China. Stuff that's "Made in Taiwan" often is not.

China doesn't need to "make a move" ... they just hold out the nickel. Pretty soon .... one day Taiwan will choose to be an "autonomouos region" then two systems one country then a generation or two later when the benefits of a Chinese hukou outweigh whatever the US is paying that year, they'll just slide farther and farther in.

It'll be a while, but China has time. 2500 years so far ...

One thing that's obvious .. this situation ? It isn't going to convince Taiwan they want to hitch their wagon tightly to the US. Just look at the numbers. Then look at the wacko conspiracy theories around here. Then listen to the garbage out of Trump's mouth. It's nuts.

Taiwan is shaking their heads right now. There's Taiwan people in Wuhan too. Koreans also. And Japanese. When he pulls that stewpid crap he's smearing all the Taiwan people and the Korea people and Japan people as well. Face counts.

This'll bring Pete out of the woodwork but if leaderforlife Xi had planned this he couldn't have done a better job. Just like bin Laden, give them ten feet of rope and the US will hang itself. Sooprise sooprise.

Agree with you that Vietnam is probably more fun these days than China. It's tamed down around here a lot

No to combining all the Corona threads into one. The open source ventilator thread is quite a bit different than this one, for instance.

Yes to a separate forum for vent(ilat)ing about it, though.

Just noticed that most who voted did so to terminate all the CV threads.

There sure as hell would be!

What about Independents, Libertarians, Democratic Socialists, ordinary Socialists, and any number of other types.

And part of the reason they have gone political is because we are NOT "all in this together". Some are not only still working but thriving while others are wondering how much longer these unprecedented lockdowns can go on before they lose their businesses, homes, and life savings.

Economics very much colors a person's political views and in many cases partisanship is a matter of whose ox is getting gored.
