Anyone have an idea what this is? It appears to be bronze. Shows no tooling marks or centers. Very fine (patina) finish. It was found amidst some old rotting mechanical contraption (mostly wooden) in the woods of a summer camp that was active in the 1950s. I can usually come up with some idea on this stuff but this one stumped me. Thanks guys. Hope you're all well in these interesting times.

Nut cracker?

Tent stake hammer? You did say "...a summer camp".

Potato masher?

Meat tenderizer?

Paper weight?

Just a lump of bronze?

More pics... Can we see the contour of the grooves? Anything different on the surface facing down vs. the top? Solid bronze? Hollow thin sheet? Or plated steel?

Reminds me of an "intrigue" I once heard of.

Found in the desert s of the South Western United States. It was a round stone of about 10 pound weight with a hole in the center. Around the hole, in continuous forum, these letters were engraved

LESTOITTIEMU

Hmm, what could it be?????????????????????

It was a puzzler for many over a long spell.

But when considered, the message described the function of the stone
