There were a number of machines that all used the same 3hp motor with a variable speed belt system "sandwich assembly" transmission with a handle to change speeds - made in the 1980's.

I have a rattle that I don't think is from the actual transmission - gets worse under load and higher speed.
Not the spindle - noise is still there in neutral.
Anyone had the same problem - how hard was it to fix?
