I mostly deal in big volume users where we sort and grade tons.
Strange to think, who the heck is scraping 2 to 5 tons of carbide in a batch?
Two places I highly recommend for smaller batches:
Member Tom Waltz, a good trustable, honest guy and company:
We Buy Scrap Carbide
and a long time source here local to me:
Recycle Carbide - Tungsten Carbide Scrap - Carbide Recycling
Both will not rip you off and are the good guys in this rather shady field.
Down quite a bit for a while prices are up a reasonable amount now, not the levels they were during the shortage but decent.
I see nothing on the horizon to expect a big jump soon as raw and virgin stock is available to feed the market demand at this point but I have "bet" this wrong in the past.
Anything sold needs to be "clean", free of screws, allen wrenches, chips, etc. as there will be a deduction for that estimated weight and you might not like that surprise. Do not mix in cermet inserts which should be trashed.
If over a certain dollar remember that you may get a 1099 and have to pay income taxes on your sale even if you are not a business.
The IRS likes to watch scrap dealers and their customers as they should.
