Small internal indexable threading tool holder for SS316

I have a big production lathe job of hundreds of small stainless steel 316 parts with the same internal thread, 7/16-20. I figured I'd save money in the long run if I used a small indexable threading tool instead of solid carbide single point threaders. The Shars Mini 5/16 shank (.240 min. bore) one I used though broke after a couple parts. Does any one have any recommendations of an indexable threading tool holder small enough to internally thread 7/16-20 (0.390 bore), yet rigid enough to handle ss 316, or am I stuck using solid carbide single point threaders?

My cnc lathe doesn't have rigid tap.

Get a spring loaded tap holder? Tap will be faster. I have a small threading bar I use with indexable carbide inserts I can single point 1/8"NPT. 7/16" I believe is the smallest hole I can get it in. I haven't ever seen one smaller than the one I have. Doubt it will help but a little I can post the numbers off my bar if you want?

Actually I'd be interested in such a small threading bar myself. Don't know the depth but I can't see a bar this small being any longer than maybe 1 1/4", 1 1/2" at the longest.

If no luck here you might try over on the CNC board. A few guys over there specialize in small stuff.

I'd be tapping them too.

Might check out Thinbit and Nikcole for miniature threading/grooving bars though.
