Didn't want to hijack the post below on a similar topic...
I bought this one yesterday.
My thought was to make a new base to fit my old lathe. However, after looking at it a bit it seems like a nice old piece and I'm loathe to modify is as I just know there is someone - somewhere that would be happy to find the correct steady for their machine. So if I could, I would sell this one - at a large profit of course (I'm not Totally altruistic)...
So before I modify it, does anyone have an idea what machine this steady may have come with?
It is very dirty but I'm up hunting and don't have a way to clean it now.
BTW, I did find it interesting to see that though it is for a similar sized 14-15" machine, that machine did not have the massive girth of my CK Monarch. That 5 3/4" measurement between the top of the V way and the front way is a full 1" narrower than what I need.
