Spindle Bore versus Bar Capacity

I'm looking at adding a CNC to my shop, and on many of the listings I see there is a spindle bore and a bar capacity section. Is there a difference or are these numbers the same thing?

I have also heard thru-hole being thrown around, and I understand that to be the same # as the bar capacity. If anyone has a free minute to clear that up for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Most CNC lathes have a drawtube that fits inside the spindle bore, to actuate the chuck. It takes up some space. On my Mori Seiki e.g., the spindle bore is ~3", but I can only barfeed ~2.5" through the drawtube.

Regards.

Mike
