Your location says UK, but you speak English like you're in China.

If you're really in the UK, the Queen is disappointed in you abusing her tongue so.

a simple (usually free) excel spread sheet works better. operator records machining times and reason for delays. then after months to years you can easily see delays and reasons why. for example sudden tool failure and record of why by what operator saw and heard.
....obviously just recording machine run time doesnt explain as much as bothering to record problems and reasons. sound or what operator hears often can tell a lot. and doesnt cost anything other than taking the time to record problems. and a lot of what operator sees can tell alot too. hard to describe but doesnt cost anything other than some effort to record experiences
    .
obviously trying things different to see if results are better should be recorded to. often it takes trying a few different things to see what works best. hard to describe but it doesnt cost anything but a little time and effort to record data. obviously if operator hears part vibrating and sees vibration in machined finish or notices part is hot or cold usually there is no sensors recording that other than what operator see, hears, feels

It may be that "Tim" is actually from the area of India, judging by the personnel information: Attention Required! | Cloudflare. Still, many people from India speak English better than the English, so who knows...

Said ER II to the Twidiot in the Queen's best English. Well, no, but the thought of it makes me smile, so it is a good day.

Shouldn’t this be moved to “Shop Management and Owner Issues” forum?
Seems it would fit better there.

Agreed Digger, when I worked production years ago i always found this type of crap to be highly offensive. The fact that good sums of money would be spent in this manner rather than equipment overhaul and upgrade.
