i have been presented with straightening a threaded rod in situ. it is a wheel clamp snapon for those who need to know that. rod is steel through alum clamps. . one end dropped and bent. taking it apart would be a challenge. im thinking clamping the whole unit and doing the heat/cool but never did threaded.

Got a picture? How large of a threaded rod?

If the rod is bent into an L I'm not sure if anything is going to bring it back to functional but a little dog leg should be able to return to be corrected, however if this a thread that is used frequently the user might get annoyed at the hang up on every in and out.

The straightened portion is likely to have drunken threads. Also check the tension side for cracks at the root of the thread.
