I recently modified one to fit a similar lathe. The castings were robust so it looked good. Modifications were scraping the crosslide and attachment for alignment, modifying the way clamp for a different V, altering the crosslide leadscrew to be telescoping and fabbing one piece that had disappeared somewhere along the way. Not counting altering the motor mounting so the taper attachment casting would pass close the the headstock. It looks good now so don't discount buying something not made for your machine.

My advice is to pick up a tracer unit. You can sometimes find one for next to nothing if you look around. Great for tapers and a lot of other stuff.

Here's a simple rule. Never buy a lathe without one. I have 3 lathes and every one of them has a TA.
