Over on the Garage Journal, a British fellow has a French-made lathe, albeit one with the tags and charts in English.
Anyway, he pulled the chuck off and thought it was an American-style L-type taper...
... Until he measured it:
Small end is approximately 1-11/16", large end about 2-1/8", and has a 1/4" key. He's pretty sure the nut isn't imperial, probably 2.5mm pitch.
IS there (or was there) such a thing as an L-000 spindle? Or is this some one-off?
Doc.
