I'm looking for ideas of things to machine outside of work. I found this Makerspace near where I live and they have a machine shop with both manual/CNC mills and lathes. I joined and passed their tests to work in the shop. But now I'm sitting here and I can't think of a single thing to make. Is there some website of machining projects people have done in the past? I feel ridiculous being in a machine shop without a purpose. I guess I thought when I walked in the shop someone would hand me a drawing and material like they do at work.
I've thought about making 1x2x3 blocks, but they don't have the facilities to harden or grind the blocks to finish. I guess could make them out of pre-hardened 4340 or something like that and machine them as close as I can.
