I can't seem to find any markings on this. If I could get an idea what manufacturer built this it sure would help. Pretty sure its a taper 40. I've got the handle soaking in solvent.

Disk diameter is 6.75 inches.

I just spotted the stamped number in the top middle picture, but I don't think it's significant.

A good place to start is to identify the threads on the fasteners. Are they inch or metric? If inch, are they American or British? If metric, are they Japanese or European?

Larry

Thanks Larry.
Just went out to shop and checked a few items. The cover is held on by 5/16-18 screws. The 4 big bolt holes are 1/2-13 with 2
5/8" spacing. Keyway is 5/8 wide and 5/16 deep with 1/4-20 hole.

Crank handle is shaped exactly like a Cincinatti head.

Dividing plate has 11 rows like a Cincy, Does it have different pattern on backside?

Later Cinci standard DH heads, were 50 taper though..

So my guess a plain basic Cincy production head, without tilt feature.. Or clone of a Cincy...

Most other DH's used different plate hole pattern, and 3 plates instead of 1..

High number Cincy plates are out there though. A set of 3...

There is one on EPay right now.. I would say most likely Cinci...

Thank you Mike. That's a big help. I would like to find an exploded diagram of this dividing head.
thanks again, Brad.

I brought this head home with another head (Ellis) and a tailstock. Looking at the diagram I just realized I have the matching tailstock to the toolmaster dividing head .So I'm a happy camper today! This was payback from a former co-worker I have helped out. His fiance wanted him to clean up around the house.

i cant find any plates. do you have a link? ebay?

High number plates are not common...

Pop up once in a while, and most sellers know exactly what they have...

Sometimes larger machine dealers will have a set at extra premium prices.

A set of blanks, and someone with a CNC mill, could make fairly quick work of a set..

I just finished making the quick index plate (mounts on DH spindle) for my older Cincy head.. Only 3 rows 24,30,36.. That was enough fun for me.. Spot drilled, then 5/32 drilled to depth... I would rather just push a big green button :) ...

The index plate holes are a little smaller ~.120

High number plates, were:

A side 30,48,69,91,99,117,129,147,171,177,189

B side 36,67,81,97,111,127,141,157,169,183,199

Next plate

C side 34,46,79,93,109,123,139,153,167,181,197

D side 32,44,77,89,107,121,137,151,163,179,193

Next plate

E side 26,42,73,87,103,119,133,149,161,175,191

F side 28,38,71,83,101,113,131,143,159,173,187

This gets you all numbers 2 to 200, all even numbers, and those divisible by 5 up to 400. Except 225,275,325,375. Cincinatti Publication #M-835

There was also a Cincy factory installed/optional DH attachment... The Wide Range Divider, gave you 2 to 400,000 and down to 6 second division capability with standard plate. Cincinatti Publication #M-972 This was for earlier heads like mine (#10 B&S spindle taper)

Good luck finding this.. It is out there, just uncommon...

Too true. I have one and have only seen two others ever. One had the extra handles chopped off with a hacksaw . Here is a picture of the Wide Range Divider portion from it after I cleaned it up. The rest looks like a normal Cincinnati DH. They actually recommend not getting the high number plates for it unless you absolutely need them as there becomes too many things to keep track of apparently without making mistakes.

Dian, as to the no 54 hole. Look at the inner ring of holes highest number, just under 100 hole on the outer ring. That should explain why no 54 hole ring on the dividing plate itself, it's direct.
