It's a test indicator.

I wonder how old it is.

It's very cool, IMO. I'd buy it from you, if you wanted to profit from your find.

It might well be, but that is certainly unlike any test indicator that I have ever seen!

Here you go !!!

It's a universal test indicator. Universal in that the scale is round and banana shaped, and the pointer has a ring at its tip so that a reading can be made when viewed from front, back or top' or any point in between . The blue parts in the box are for clamping it in a required position.

It's been many, many moons since I saw one of those! It is a test indicator. The beauty of it is when your indicating a hole you don't have to crane your head around to the back side to see where your at. You just need to look from the left and right. So simple it never really caught on!
