Clausing 6913 Var-speed trouble/questions

I/m trying to purge the air(?) From the Vary-Speed unit on this new to me 6913 and can't. Or there is some other issue. ?

I'm following the instructions on the factory plate (Fill unit with fluid at slow speed, hold at 360 rpm for 30 seconds) but the variety-speed dial acts spring loaded---it snaps from 360'r to about 800r's. Rpm's from 800 to max are adjustable as per normal, but under 800 is unusable as it won't stay there when you take your hand of the dial...it just backs up to 800rpm.

Best I can tell I have the upgraded aluminum block down at the sheaves/pulley and the old round unit up at the RPM selector.

Maybe I just have the nut tightened in too far on the aluminum block down on the motor??

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you put new O-rings in the unit?

No.
The unit has no leaks, SO I was goin with "If it aint broke".....
?

Make sure you are using the correct viscosity grade of hydraulic oil in the VS drive system. Clausing 6913 uses the same system as the 5914 I have.
