As title says. Can anyone recommend a grease suitable for use with nylon parts?

I have't found any reliable info that I would trust through google searches. There is also a lot of contradictory information out there.

This will be used where there is surface contact between steel and nylon in a clutch release mechanism.

Thanks for any info.

Use one of the filled nylons, but its very compatible with std mineral oils and grease. Just avoid synthetics + high volatile solvents and especially avoid silicone greases around ferrous or non ferrous - any metal parts.

For your clutch release? black graphite / MoS2 has always done me well, solved a few problems that ''plain lithium grease'' couldn't handle ;)

Although Nylon is self lubricating, I like white lithium for plastics.

Just a fun fact, the Remington Nylon 66 and 77 were a favorite by fisherman because they did not rust, needed very little lubricant if any, and were very reliable. And it wouldn't be that way if Nylon were was used.

"especially avoid silicone greases around ferrous or non ferrous - any metal parts."

why?

Synthetic greases are actually preferred over conventional greases for nylon parts. Mobile Grease 28 is an excellent grease for Nylon. It's also excellent for applications where there are both metal and nylon gears interacting with each other. It is an aircraft quality grease that handles high temperatures and heavy loads, plus it is safe for nylon.

Mobilgrease 28 is used in various gearboxes I've designed. GF nylon case, neat nylon gears (spur, bevel, and crossed helicals), commodity ball bearings.

Many other greases were tested during development with no troubles found. Mobil 28 adopted for production. About 20 years history. I won't claim it's the best but it has worked well in my experience.
