Heat sink machine. OT/Interesting

That is really neat. My hat's off to the guy who set it up.

What really amazes me is that the fins stay straight. I would have thought that they would come off curved, like most chips that we make. I would bet that the exact alloy is an important factor.

I wonder just how this process compares financally to other ways to make the same product. Is this more efficient? Is it only for small quantities? Less wasted material vs. longer time? Set up time? Wear and tear on what is obviously an expensive CNC machine? Even ball screws will wear and they can be expensive to replace.
