What oil for Wilson hardness tester damper?

Just went to use my Wilson 5JR marked 78 so assuming made in 1978 so not too old and it had small puddle under it. Looked through the side hole and the little damper inside was all oily looking. Tried to use it and there is no damping when releasing the weight anymore. Just slams down and reads wrong.

Anyone have any idea what oil to use in a Wilson 5JR hardness tester damper? The operation manual doesn't seem to list it. Thanks.

EDIT, Just found a manual on VintageMachinery.org that says to use a "motor oil like Mobiloil Arctic Special Grade 10-10 W". Not sure this is for my model but I think they are all the same. What would today's equivalent be?
