Wilton 9400 vice

Picked one up that came with a bench.
Replacing the rusty mount bolts I noticed the wilton base has tapered mounting holes from 3/4-1/2” . Any source for inserts to use? Im thinking the vise might stay tight with the correct taper insert or mounting hardware?

You sure those aren't just simple cored holes in the casting that nobody bother to machine cylindrical?

The Garage Journal website seems to be the best place to ask vise questions. Great respository of info and some members make reproduction parts that are high quality.

It isn't clear whether your vise has a swivel base, etc. Pictures always help.

Don't over think this one. Those holes are cast with plenty of draft, no need to drill when finishing the casting. Just bolt it down, The bolts will stay tight till you loosen them.
