I really don't know much about firearms, but a friend of mine owns a 1884 44-40 (44 WCF)Lever Action Winchester Rifle.

Anyone have an idea how much it's worth, if it has any value at all?

Thanks,

Warrior

Hi Warrior,
Recheck your numbers.Winchester didn't make an 1884 rifle to my knowledge. The 1873 ans 1892 models were chambered in 44-40.The 1894 wasn't.A later version of the model 94 was but it was marked model 94.
A later model '94 44-40 barrel will fit on an earlier 1894 action adding to the confusion.
So get the numbers recheck and repost it here or private message me if you like.
Robert.

Hi their,

Thanks for the response. It might very well be a 94 model. I have good eyes and I thought I read 1884, but 8 & 9 are easy to confuse.

I'll have to check with the owner, but I am positive that it's 44-40.

Warrior,
I forgot to ask the serial number. Please post it as 12345xxx.Then I'll be able to tell you when it was made. That will give an idea if it has been rebarreled.
Any price I can give will be for the USA.I didn't notice your address the first time around.I can tell you if it is original or a rebarrel and that will give you an idea of it's worth.
